Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2021
41 www.rallydeportugal.pt 20-23 / 05 / 2021 411 B ritain’s Jon Armstrong starts the Vodafone Rally de Portugal as the main figure amongst the Junior Rally World Championship (JWRC). WRC eSports champion in 2018, he is not driving for the first time. In 2016 he had already won d-Mack Fiesta Trophy and he returns to the new version of the same car to get a shot at the world title. However, his task won’t be an easy one during the season. For starters, opponents have all the same machinery – the JWRC is run with the Ford Fiesta Rally4. Adding to that, after showing competence on Croatian asphalt, he will have to do the same on the Vodafone Rally de Portugal’s gravel tests. Besides Armstrong, the JWRC has eight entries. Latvian Martins Sesks is second place in the championship, ahead of Finland’s Sami Pajari and Laura Joona, third and fourth respectively. As it is the first gravel event of the year, the performance of the drivers at the Vodafone Rally de Portugal is an mystery. Martin Koci is one of the most experienced drivers, but one must also pay attention to what William Creighton, Robert Virves and Raul Badiu will do. ARMSTRONG LEADS FORD FIESTA RALLY4’S YOUNG WOLVES
